I've been sick for several days. Achy, tired, fever, sore throat. The sore throat got really bad this weekend. You know when you try really, really hard not to swallow for as long as possible b/c the pain is so bad your whole body cringes? It's been bad enough to keep up most of the last 3 nights. I'm getting 1.5 - 3 hours of sleep a night. So we didn't do any schooling last week. I told Ben we were taking the week off in celebration of his birthday, but it really was b/c I didn't have the energy and I did not want to talk to much. One day I spent going in and out of consciousness and I'm so glad B was able to fend for himself, poor guy!
But today we were back on track b/c my throat is feeling much better. We did two days worth of lessons and B did not protest at all. We had a great time. I also did 4 loads of laundry, had to pick up the entire main floor and got a homemade meal on the table. I so totally rock. We did some catching up on Science experiments, too. We created our own version of the lungs and diaphragm with a 2 liter bottle, balloon (BTW - anytime anyone in this house says the word "balloon" someone else immediately follows it with "BALLOONEY?!" in a Dr. Doofenshmirtz voice. hehehe), plastic grocery bag (took me a while to find one, thanks to the cats. See last paragraph for explanation.), tape and a fortune cookie fortune. We also were able to see what the air capacity is in B's lungs - enough to displace 2 liters of water! Sounds impressive, doesn't it? Let me tell you, it was! We were so excited to see how much water the hubs could displace when he got home from work, but he was not up for it. "Every pa-ty has a pooper, that's why we invited you. My HUS-band: pa-ty pooper." (Sung a la Franck Eggelhoffer from 1991's "Father of the Bride".)
It was the hub's turn to put B down tonight. As B was dozing off, all of a sudden he pipes up with, "Eggnog!" "What?" asked the hubs. "I think eggnog is really the only way I'm ever going to eat eggs...*snore*"
My cats are little Picas-in-training. I know this because we studied Pica in Nutrition class in college and our teacher accused one of my classmates of having it. So you see, that makes me an expert. That and the fact that the internet and I can diagnose anything. It's a skill; don't be hatin'. ;o) Anywho, back to the cats....they prefer plastic and carpet padding. Grocery bags, bread bags, ziploc bags, purses, aglets, bubble wrap, sequins, flip-flops, all have been eaten by the cats and are all now put up or locked up. So they are climbing and jumping to get to anything plastic they can. Hence, I had to take the tubs of medicines and first aid supplies off the top of the refrigerator and hide them in my bedroom closet. Only, I cannot seem to get through to the hubs that he needs to keep the bedroom closet closed when he is not in there! Thank goodness the dry cleaner plastic over my 20th high school reunion dress distracted the cats from my bottle of Advil during my period last week. That could have been ugly. Never a dull moment around here...
I love you for knowing Father of the Bride quotes!
ReplyDeleteGirl, I know quotes from EVERYTHING and use them all day long. Passed the gift onto B, too. ;o)
